Bloody Haze!!
Now that I am back in Singapore, I haven't been able to get any decent star gazing nights due to the blasted haze problem that is plaguing the region! :-P
So, while waiting for the situation to clear I gotten in touch with Chris Yeo, a member from singastro which is a local astronomy forum/club, to help me with some hands-on with the Starshoot CCD. He came over last Thursday night and we had a good 2 hour chat and fiddling with my scope and CCD which cleared up many of my fumbling attempts earlier.
It was fortunate that I managed to have some time with Chris, for I was all sixes and sevens with the whole setup before all this. Now, I have a better grasp of what to do and to look out for. :-) Meanwhile I managed to diy a simple planisphere that caters to our latitude, so that I can get a better location for the sight of the stars from where I am. I have gotten the details to make it from the information provided by Chris too.
Today, I went over to Parkway Parade and gotten myself 3 astronomy books: Night Sky Atlas and Stargazing With a Telescope (both from Firefly) and The Star Guide (2nd ed) by Robin Kerrod. Set me back by S$128! Still, they are a good buy.
All these just because the bloody haze played havoc to the skies the past month! Tonight, the PSI is hovering below 50, so I am having a go later at the skies again and see if I can do some decent late nighter of the sky... ;-)
